This is going to be a major departure from past and future blog posts, but it’s too important to not talk about. It is affecting me so strongly especially today because I’m in a vulnerable state. Remember that I’m probably one of the most empathetic people you’ll meet. This means that your pain is my pain multipled times 100 because I can’t fix it.
This morning I read a friend’s post on the Book of Face and she had gotten a comment on her blog saying that the racism she and her family have experienced is because they brought it with them when they relocated to Maine. Mainers weren’t racist until all these city dwellers moved to the country.
There are so many things wrong in that statement I can’t even begin to address them. Where my darkest places comes in is that I can’t even begin to address those comments or the racism, overt or covert whatever, that is inherent in his words. I just want to make the world a better place for my friends, regardless of color, creed, gender, sexuality. That shouldn’t be so much to ask.
Also I want to politely ask that man to crawl back under the rock from whence he came.
