Job Search

I’m not really actively looking for a new job, there are a lot of benefits to my current job, but I am floating around looking for a new job. My ideal replacement is something customer service oriented and with similar pay. If I can’t find something with similar pay I’d prefer a make your own schedule online gig that I can work around my current job.

I’m fed up at my current job. Half the people in my department don’t do their job so I’m left picking up the slack. If it’s not my department I’m picking up the slack for it’s other departments that I’m hightailing it to to help customers.

And don’t get me wrong. The company I work for is a good company, but the store is currently in the throes of a reorganization where people think they can get away with not doing their job.

I’m just over feeling like I’m the only person who does their job outside of a couple managers. I also don’t ask for help often, but when I do I could be waiting multiple minutes. Not just a walk across the store wait, but yesterday I was waiting close to ten minutes for someone to help get an appliance down from the rafters. If I’m waiting when I ask for help then the customer is waiting. Thus violating my commitment to excellent customer service.

I don’t know that I’ll find a different job that fills the gaps I’m looking to fill at the pay I’m looking to get, but if I don’t look I’ll definitely never find it. So right now I’m just cruising job postings. Sometimes clicking the link, sometimes shooting over my resume, sometimes getting a call back, but I’m trying not to leave a job where I’m firmly entrenched and getting paid well.

We’ll see.
